My stay in the City of Salsa: 04-26-2025
Welcome to La Sucursal Hostel in Cali, Colombia. Located in the Barrio Granada district, it offers a safe area to walk and explore, both in the day and at night. The food in the area is pricey, but there are some cheaper options as well. I'll list some personal recommendations below.
The hostel itself, is very clean, very social, and the workers are very friendly. They're happy to answer any questions about the free or paid walking tours, activities to do in Cali, salsa club recommendations, and about the activities in the hostel. The activities in the hostel include: yoga, salsa classes (group & personal), movie nights, group Spanish classes and live dj performances from Thursday to Saturday in their Rooftop Bar. For those that just want to relax, their shared dorms beds are comfy, private, and have fans to keep you cool. Their hammocks are comfy as well!
When it comes to exploration, there's a lot to do. Including the famous salsa street on Fridays (walking distance), visiting the Alameda market for fruits, food, and souvenirs (11min uber/didi ride), the Teatro El Mulato Cabaret salsa club (10min uber/didi), and La Topa Tolandra salsa club (6min uber/didi ride) to name a few.
